About the event

The Reading Offshore Sailing Club will host a talk by local sailors Robin Popham and Paul Waterman at its Monday 2 February meeting about building and sailing their boat, Proteus.. The two will discuss the challenges of starting to build their trailer/sailer just as Covid struck and how they succeeded, despite living miles apart and not being allowed to meet. The story includes the subsequent experiences and excitement of sailing Proteus around the UK, France and the Netherlands, suggesting that there is no finer feeling on the water than sailing a boat you have built yourself.  They have won prizes with Proteus as well as being featured in a major boating magazine. Reading Offshore Sailing Club is for all interested in sailing and the sea, including non-boat owners and meets monthly in Sonning.  We will gather for a drink and chat from 7.30pm and the talk begins at 8pm.
