Christmas Walk
partly along the Thames Path in Henley/Remenham area
meet at 10am for a prompt start at 10.15

The walk will be of 5 miles (8km) and includes Hambledon Lock and Weir if time. A short cut past Remenham Church to the towpath (instead of continuing to Henley and back) brings the walk down to 3 miles. The walk is described in “Walks along the Thames Path” by Ron Emmons, except that he starts and finishes at Henley.

Meet in the car park of the Flower Pot pub at Aston (Tel. 01491 574721)
(RG9 3DG) grid ref SU784843 at 10am for a prompt start at 10.15.

Heading East from the bridge at Henley, take the 1st left, Remenham Lane until reaching Remenham Church. Keep to the right of the church, but keep left at the fork just afterwards. This single-track lane brings you to Aston, with an overflow car park and the Flower Pot pub on the left and main car park on the right at the T-junction. From the Maidenhead direction, take the A4130 (previously A423) and turn right at Remenham Hill to Aston.

We cannot book, but the Flower Pot is used to catering for groups of walkers. We are advised to arrive early to get tables and order food. There is a good selection, with large bowls of soup and bread at under £5, large ploughman’s at about £9, and many appetising hot dishes.

Dogs are allowed in the Public Bar, but not in the restaurant.
